Lunch in Paternoster

Driving back to Cape Town we stopped at the fishing village of Paternoster on the Atlantic west coast.

Paternoster got its name from the prayers of the Portuguese sailors who first ventured around the southern tip of Africa.

It's still a working fishing village; the beach is rough and the ocean wild.

Walking along the beach there were whitewashed cottages, fishing boats, and hardy fynbos growing in the sand dunes; few or no markers of tourism.

Die Gaatjie (the little hole) was the perfect spot for lunch ...

We found a table right on the rocks to eat local crayfish that is in abundant supply right here.
