A Lisbon walk in black & white

A morning walk downtown - my camera unknowingly set to black and white! Walking downhill from Alfama ...

We passed an lady with crutches sitting on the steps of the Sé da Lisboa cathedral

Continuing down the wide pedestrianised Rua Augusta towards the river

we passed through the Arco da Augusta leading to Praça do Comércio

finding shade in the colonnades on Praça do Comércio

A photogenic swimmer was standing between the stone columns in the river pier, Cais das Colunas

while a seagull rested on one of the old inscribed columns.

Returning back up towards the Baixa we found the Rossio square in full bloom

and stopped for a coffee at the Art deco Café Nicola

Shoe-shine man, Café Nicola

From Rossio we walked uphill again past the Grandes Armazéns do Chiado on the Rua do Carmo

popping into a bookstore with tiled façade

The 28 Tram was on its way up to Alfama

Lisbon, Portugal
